The Bendigo Writers Festival: I’d love to see you there

What people say

How do writers go about preparing to interview for profiles and stories? Is it as much about listening as it is about asking the right questions? What do you do when someone clams up? And what about when you’ve done the writing, how do you deal with what your subject wants to take out? Derek Guille hosts Dianne Dempsey, Margaret Hickey and Jenny Valentish to talk about the ins and outs, ups and downs, of profile writing.

The Songlines Code

In a remarkable first book from a new series about Indigenous knowledge, Margo Neale and Lynne Kelly invite us to understand how memory is stored by adapting song, art, and most importantly, Country, into our lives. They talk with Dianne Dempsey about the power and the promise held in traditional knowledge systems. Margo curated the ground-breaking Seven Sisters exhibition for the National Museum of Australia and this collaboration with Castlemaine science writer Lynne has raised exciting prospects for all of us.
